Purchase your tickets now for this special performance with members of the Olympia Symphony. The cast includes dancers and faculty from Johansen Olympia Dance Center, as well as guest artist Iyun Harrison (formerly with Dance Theater of Harlem.) The performance includes the family favorite "Carnival of the Animals", "Mozart Divertimento" (a neoclassical ballet with beautiful flowing tutus), and "Arrakis" (choreographed by J.O.D.C. faculty member Joanne Holbrook to the music of Bach, Ravel, Vivaldi, and more!)
This year's program will be held from August 6-24 with one, two, or three options! Dancers must have completed the Beginner 4 Ballet (or equivalent) level of training. Guest instructors from American Ballet Theatre, Pacific Northwest Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Houston Ballet, Joffery Ballet, and Dance Theatre of Harlem will be in residence. The curriculum will include ballet, pointe/pre-pointe, conditioning, jazz, contemporary, swing, African, and educational seminars. Housing options are available. The schedule is now posted for summer evening classes which run from June 25 to August 3! Classes will be offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in ballet, creative dance, pointe, jazz, tap, hip-hop, and contemporary. Tuition is flexible and can be prorated!
